Dog’s snout structure

One of the most important factors is the type of the dog’s skull:

• Brachycephalic dogs – breeds with short snouts, such as pugs, French bulldogs, or Pekingese, require specially designed muzzles adapted to their unique anatomy

• Mesocephalic dogs – breeds with medium-length snouts, such as Labradors or shepherd dogs

• Dolichocephalic dogs – breeds with long and narrow snouts, such as greyhounds or collies

Purpose of the muzzle

Different types of muzzles are suited for different situations:

They should be adjusted so the dog can breathe freely and pant, which is very important for its comfort.

Veterinary muzzles
These are intended for short-term restraint during examinations, procedures, or other stressful situations. They are not suitable for walks or prolonged wear.

Muzzles for cats
These are mainly used in veterinary clinics or during grooming procedures when it is necessary to safely secure the animal.

Proper fit of the muzzle

A well-fitted muzzle should:

The Grande Finale cat muzzle is a tool designed for short-term restraint of a cat’s muzzle during procedures that require greater control over the animal, such as veterinary examinations, administering medication, or grooming treatments. The product was developed in cooperation with practicing veterinarians, which means its design reflects the real needs of working with cats in stressful situations.

Please note that cats react much more dynamically than dogs, so putting on the muzzle may require some practice as well as calm and confident handling by the caregiver.

1. Preparing to Put the Muzzle On

Before putting the muzzle on, it is worth preparing in advance so the entire process can be carried out quickly and efficiently.

• Make sure the muzzle straps are sufficiently loosened.

• Keep the muzzle within easy reach so it can be applied in one smooth motion.

• If possible, ask another person to help hold the cat.

Calm and confident handling significantly reduces the animal’s stress.

2. Putting the Muzzle On

• Gently but firmly restrain the cat, stabilizing its head.

• In one smooth motion, place the muzzle over the cat’s muzzle.

• Then fasten the securing straps so that the muzzle remains stable on the animal’s head.

Correct strap positioning:

• Two straps should rest on the cat’s forehead.

• The ears should be positioned between the straps.

• One strap should go around the cat’s neck.

This positioning ensures the muzzle remains stable and prevents it from slipping off during use.

3. Required Practice

Putting a muzzle on a cat — especially a stubborn or frightened one — may require practice. The first attempts may be more difficult, but once the proper technique is mastered, the muzzle becomes a highly effective tool for increasing safety while handling the cat.

In veterinary clinics, this type of muzzle is often used as an aid for short-term restraint of the animal.

4. Safety Guidelines

• The muzzle is intended for short-term use only.

• Do not leave the cat unattended while wearing the muzzle.

• The product should only be used for the time necessary to perform the required procedure.

• If the cat shows signs of severe stress or difficulty breathing, the muzzle must be removed immediately.

5. Cleaning and Disinfection

The muzzle can be cleaned with a damp cloth in the case of light dirt or stains.

The product can also be safely disinfected using veterinary-grade disinfectants, which is particularly important when used in veterinary clinics or in places where maintaining a high level of hygiene is essential.

After cleaning or disinfection, leave the muzzle to dry at room temperature.
