Challenges in Ambulatory ECG Monitoring in Dogs

Long-term Holter monitoring is a diagnostic standard in the detection of cardiac arrhythmias in dogs. In clinical practice, however, the examination is associated with significant challenges:

• risk of damage to the costly recorder,

• device displacement during movement,

• detachment or damage of the leads,

• limited patient tolerance,

• the need to repeat the examination due to artifacts or recording loss.

These issues affect not only the quality of diagnostics, but also patient comfort and the clinician’s workflow.
