Positioner and stabilizer

Veterinary Positioners and Stabilizers

In modern veterinary medicine, correct patient positioning is essential—both during surgical procedures and diagnostic imaging, including X-ray and computed tomography (CT) examinations.

Grande Finale veterinary stabilizers and positioners were developed in collaboration with veterinary surgeons and clinicians to address the real-world needs of operating theatres, X-ray suites, and CT facilities.

They combine:

  • patient safety,

  • comfort and efficiency for the medical team,

  • the highest hygiene standards,

  • support for patient thermoregulation during procedures.

These solutions are designed for veterinary clinics that value quality, consistent clinical protocols, and professionalism at every stage of patient care.

Design and Materials

The positioners are available in several shapes:

  • rectangular cushions,

  • elongated bolsters,

  • cylindrical rolls.

They are made from a soft yet durable technical fabric that is easy to clean and designed for use in demanding medical environments.

The filling consists of a specialized free-flowing material that:

  • is radiolucent and does not create artefacts on X-ray images,

  • allows the positioner to be easily moulded,

  • enables precise adaptation to the patient's anatomy.

As a result, the positioners can be shaped and positioned as needed to provide stable support for a wide range of patients—from small exotic animals to larger companion animals.

  • Positioner version standard

    Construction and Materials

The surgical positioner is made from high-quality technical fabric designed for use in demanding medical environments.

It is filled with a dry, free-flowing material that:

    • is radiolucent and does not create artefacts on X-ray images,

    • allows precise shaping and moulding,

    • conforms to the patient's anatomy,

    • provides stable and secure support.

The sides of the positioner are reinforced with foam supports, enhancing structural stability and helping maintain accurate patient positioning during surgical procedures and diagnostic imaging.

The positioner is available in two sizes, allowing it to be matched to both the patient's size and the specific clinical procedure.

    Applications

    • General and specialist surgery

    • X-ray (radiography)

    • Computed tomography (CT)

    • Lateral and dorsal patient positioning

    • Limb and spinal support

  • Stabilizator

    Construction and Materials

The stabilizers are made from durable technical fabric and filled with a specialized material that:

    • is radiolucent and does not create artefacts on X-ray images,

    • can be moulded into virtually any shape,

    • provides stable support for selected areas of the patient's body.

They can be used as standalone stabilization aids or as complementary components of a complete patient positioning system.

    Thermoregulation Support

    The stabilizers can be:

    • heated (after verifying the appropriate microwave settings),

    • cooled, depending on clinical requirements.

This allows them to support patient thermoregulation during surgical procedures, which is particularly important for animals under general anaesthesia and for species that are highly susceptible to hypothermia, such as rabbits and other lagomorphs.

  • Positioner version divided

The split version consists of two modules joined centrally with a hook-and-loop fastening system.

    This design allows for:

    • rapid adjustment of the patient's position during procedures,

    • easy reconfiguration to accommodate changing surgical requirements,

    • precise stabilization of selected areas of the patient's body.

This model is particularly well suited to procedures that require dynamic repositioning of the patient without the need to fully move them on the operating table.
