Postoperative shirt using instruction

Product Purpose

Grande Finale post-surgical recovery shirts are designed to protect the surgical site after veterinary procedures. The garment supports the recovery process by limiting the animal’s access to the wound and protecting surgical stitches from contamination and mechanical damage.

The recovery shirt can be used as an alternative or a complement to an Elizabethan collar (cone), providing greater comfort and freedom of movement during recovery.

Intended Use

The post-surgical recovery shirt is suitable for:

  • Dogs

  • Cats

  • Rabbits

The product is available for both male and female animals, depending on the selected model.

The shirt is intended to protect the surgical site after procedures including:

  • Spaying and neutering

  • Abdominal surgery

  • Dermatological procedures

  • Other surgeries requiring wound protection

How to Put the Shirt On

  1. Place the animal’s front legs through the front openings.

  2. Position the shirt along the animal’s body.

  3. Wrap the rear section underneath the abdomen.

  4. Place the hind legs through the designated openings.

  5. Tie the straps securely over the animal’s back according to the garment's design.

  6. Cross the final pair of straps, tying the last strap to the second-to-last strap on the opposite side.

The shirt should fit snugly while allowing the animal to breathe comfortably and move freely without restriction.

Using an Absorbent Dressing

Models equipped with an abdominal pocket allow the use of an additional absorbent dressing.

To insert the dressing:

  1. Place a sterile absorbent dressing inside the abdominal pocket.

  2. Ensure the dressing is positioned directly over the surgical site.

  3. Replace the dressing as recommended by your veterinarian.

Using an absorbent dressing is especially recommended for small or low-set breeds whose abdomen may come into contact with grass, soil, or other surfaces during walks.

Use for Male Dogs

The version designed for male dogs features a dedicated abdominal opening that allows urination without removing the shirt.

The opening is covered by a Velcro-secured flap.

To allow urination:

  1. Open the protective flap.

  2. Secure it to the side of the shirt using the Velcro fastening.

  3. Close the flap again after urination.

This design also facilitates medical procedures such as:

  • Urine collection using an infant urine collection bag

  • Urinary catheterization

without removing the recovery shirt.

During Use

While the shirt is being worn, regularly:

  • Inspect the surgical wound.

  • Check that the shirt remains clean.

  • Ensure the shirt continues to fit correctly.

If the shirt becomes soiled, replace it with a clean one or wash it before reuse.

Washing and Care

Grande Finale recovery shirts are made from 100% cotton and can be machine washed at temperatures up to 60°C (140°F).

For best results:

  • Wash using mild detergents.

  • Do not use harsh bleaching agents.

  • Allow the shirt to dry completely before reuse.

Important Safety Information

  • Use the recovery shirt according to your veterinarian's recommendations.

  • Regularly monitor both the surgical wound and your pet's comfort.

  • The shirt should not be too tight, as it must not restrict breathing or movement.

  • It should also not be too loose, as this may reduce its effectiveness.

  • Choosing the correct size is essential for proper protection and a comfortable recovery.
